what revo to go for?
« on: 11 January 2008, 12:59 »
Hey all, just got my Mk 5 GTI the other week and was wondering what type of revo chip everyone goes for, Ive read all the topics about them but none say the actual type people go for. If anyone knows please get back to me.

Do you need to upgrade the dump valve as Ive heard the standard one splits with the extra boost?

Thanks, Gary

Welcome to the forum Gary

Nice spanking new GTI there. I bet you can't wait until it is run in, so that you can give it a proper spanking

I didn't go for a Revo Remap. I went for an APR, which I had done at Awesome GTI in Irlam (nr Manchester).

I am currently awaiting the Forge DV as I think it is a wise upgrade to do, especially considering the reports on failed standard DV's.

Its been getting a proper spanking already  I had a fiesta ST before the golf and that was ran in hard and it was alot quicker than other ST's. I just make sure its properly heated before it gets the beans. Wel am up in Aberdeenshire so i wont be travellin that far. Ive heard good reports about starperformance in fyfe, scotland but my mate has a new leon cupra with a full milltek, 3" downpipe and a corbonio intake and hes always went for starperformance but hes thinking along the lines of the revo now.

If anyone does have a revo did you go for the select or the select plus?

Is this the forge dump valve you went for? http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/content.asp?inc=product&cat=260303&product=FMFSITVR

Yes, The DV that fits the ED30 has the "R" at the end. Awesome initially forgot the "R" the first time they ordered it for me and as a result I'll now get it for less, due to having to go back over from Sheffield to have it fitted.

Unsure if it's the one you want though. I think the one for the standard GTI is the one below

http://www.forgemotorsport.co.uk/content.asp?inc=product&cat=1703DV&product=FMFSITV

As you may notice it doesn't have the "R" on the end as the "R" denotes the remote version, which has the DV fitted near the front of the car. This was relocated in the ED30 from the standard GTI position due to heat soak and accessibility issues.

The one he's shown is a Diverter valve and is not an atmospheric version but a recirculating one - so not chav :nerd:

O rite aye c  well am only 18 so I would be tempted with the chav option to get the dump valve noise but what diverter valve would you advise me to buy because you would get bored of the dump valve noise after a while.
