if you do fit one, heat wrap the rack UJ boot to stop it melting.  You can get nice heat tape, or be pikey and use tinfoil

Is that easier than heat wrapping the manifold?

well no, but I'd still wrap the boot even if you do the manifold, its not something you want to have to do later on!  plus on some manifolds its advised not to wrap them at all, my ashley for example :)

is that my old ashley? well new but never used? im sorry about the olive fitting. the ebay seller never sent it on
wish i hadnt sold it on now, but you live and learn. seen as though at the moment its a reliable daily, think im going the ported exhaust manifold

id only get a quality manifold. milltek tsr supersprint etc. not an ebay job, its the fitting, quality of welds and porting than matters

as i remember now i used to have a fiesta zetec-s with a full milltek 4-1 with race system from pumaspeed. transformed the car at high revs but had to keep taking it from derby to leeds.cant quite remember why but something to do with a bracket and heat shield.hmm

anyway, drive a proper car these days!

Yeah thats the one, if it makes you feel any better I wish i never bought it
quality of the welds was a bit poor, plus there was a huge lump o metal in one o the ports, and it was about 20cm too short so I had to bodge something together by chopping up another centre pipe, and now my straight thru pipe hits the tunnel on over-run when it gets hot.
It fits lovely thru the subframe even though I have a 2.0 bottom end which is nice.

I tried 3 different o'rings before I found one that fitted and didnt melt, it was a pug part I think.  Got it off an ebay seller after supplying the I/D and O/D measurements of another o'ring that fitted nice but melted with the heat, was blowing like an utter b!tch for over a week!  I was under the car about 10 times trying different combos of o'rings & springs/bolts till I eventually found the setup I got now.

Still alls well that ends well I guess :D

Cheers Paul. I think you're right really. Gonna have to bite the bullet and fork out another wedge. I'm just putting off the inevitable really.
