Immobiliser and alarm

Can anyone recommend a decent immobiliser and alarm for my MK2. Don't want to spend too much but could do with some added security. I don't want an alarm that keeps going off all the time though. Also, how much would it be getting them fitted roughly?

Any idea how much insurance would go down having them?

i had on both my cars (sig) sterling (toad)  great alarms , imo and cheap
a mobile alarm fitter who supplys and fits these in bradford  £120

unfortunatly not cat1

I'm not too sure, but i've had a look quickly for you but my Toad Ai606 was great, remote central locking, option to have full closure for the electric windows and didn't go off a lot. However the bill from the previous owner came up to £300 including fitting with certificate back in 2003.

But for a decent CAT1 i think you might have to pay much more than £200.

Fitting looks like it can be expensive. There's an alarm on caraudiosecurity.com that is Thatcham approved for £179.99 but fitting is from at least £299.

Is it better just to get the immobiliser and forget the alarm? Even then fitting is pricey, but at least it might stop people stealing my car.

I know what you're saying but I'm in a c**p job that doesn't pay well until I find one in what I got a degree in so money's pretty tight. I have other plans for the car this year too.

You can get an ai606 fitted for £200 quid. There's a guy that does them on ebay that a few people on e38 recommend, can't remember where he is based though.
