carbonio!!
« on: 03 January 2008, 12:49 »
well after reading the thread yesterday i was put of by the thread stating that you loose 4bhp by fitting this intake.  :undecided:

So ive just rang up awesome and the guy said that there is no way you can loose bhp by fitting this system, he said that there will be a small increase of around 2bhp on standard 2.0t and around 4-5 on a remapped 2.0t, but he also said that the increase will be so small that you will not really be able to feel any real difference untill miltek is fitted,

so i ordered one anyway

also he stated that i can have the diverter fitted when we go on the forum rolling road day in april, so ill run it with and without to see any difference, i doubt that there will be much difference in this as its just a stronger system than the standard. Oh and if you didnt know about the RR day at awesome then go in the events section, theres a few ed30 and a few standard gti i think

You won't regret it, and you certainly won't lose any power.

When you have the exhaust fitted you will certainly feel the difference. The throttle response changed immediately after I fitted mine.

You will notice a big difference with the Milltek if you do the TBE, it made a massive difference on my last Gti. Think I'll have to get 1 for the ED30, to go with the remap and carbonio, think I'll let Hurdy be the guinea pig

Still awaiting a reply from Sarah at Awesome for the Milltek. I reckon I ought to run a sweepstake on how many bhp the Milltek gives up on the RR. What do you reckon?

When I got the TBE for the regular Gti with stage 2 APR it made 22hp more and revved much more freely, I reckon the exhaust and cat made as much difference as the map so I'm guessing 10-12bhp for the Milltek

update:

fitted the carbonio on saturday. ive fitted a fair few induction kits before but this one took the p!ss, i dunno if anybody else had this problem but the front of the carbonio box would not fit in where the standard box front intake went. i tried for about an hour but would not go in without damaging it!! i ended up putting longer screws in and it worked OK. the rest of it was relativly easy except the golf that they used on the instruction's was a bit different (probably newer or ed30) and some clips and screws were different.

anways my opinion on this intake is good. it does not make much different noise than the standard box (no induction sucking noise) but throttle respose has drastically improved and feels like it pulls harder from lower revs!! i rekonend this to anyone and next day delivery with awesome was A+++. if anybody wants pictures ill post some.

I had the same problem with mine mounting on the slam panel. In the end I mounted it on rubber bushes so it could move with the engine and not rattle.

do a couple of miles with the window down, you'll hear the induction noise then
