That's a lot of fuel you?re loosing. I get about 100 miles to a ?10 and your only getting a quarter of that. I doubt your car would run well if it was over fuelling that much so I would check for leads first. Have a look under your car to see if there are any obvious drips on the road beneath it, good thing to check to begin with.

dirty air filter worn plugs, dissy cap, rotor arm, dirty fuel filter all cause high fuel consumption!
a fuel leak is number 1 on the list! check the fuel system from the tank all the way to the injectors......any signs of fuel leakage.

are your tyres inflated properly under inflated tyres can cause it to drink fuel and also wear the tyres on the outsides........

if no leaks then it could be the things ive listed......

what is your mfa reading!
is your fuel sender faulty!

the car must have all serviceable things eg spark plugs dissy cap etc in good condition as they could be adding to the problem
if all of the things ive suggested are ok it may be electronic fault, injectors, airflow meter, ecu, all of which can be tested by the dealer..... the injectors and airflow meter can be tested with a multi meter and an haynes manual which tells you how to test them........

I didnt think they did a 1.8 driver in the Mk2? Drivers also didnt think any came with MFA or any electric injection system. It may be your choke, the automatic choke on the piersburg 2E carb is sh!te. If you are running full choke at all times this could cause petrol guzzling. Check your vaccum unit is working on the carb
