hi when i bought my mk2 the oil buzzer was doing the same thing and i got told it was a wiring fault, so took it home and had it a week and the engine seized solid and when i stripped it down i descovered that the guy that had it before me put a new sump on it and put to much sealer round the edge, so when he tightened it up the sealer overflowed and went up the oil pick up and chocked, im not saying its wats wrong with yours but i would check 2 make sure your sump is clear and your pickup is not clogged.

change the rear one on the oil cooler and the high pressure switch on the head just to be on the safe side? is it clattering top end when the light comes on, have you tried a good oil flush?
i must buy a new car!

yep i've got this problem as well with my valver, happens when i go round corners a bit fast, doesn't stay on too long once the car straightens up, maybe 5 secs. Also i was starting to get some horrible noises from the head (nothing too bad, but not a good look)

Have already done a flush and oil change (carlube) and although it seems to have solved the head noise problems the oil light (and f**kin annoying buzzer) is now coming on a little more than before (and now not only after going round a corner, balls).

Have also had the advice to check the pick up in the sump but am now concerned before i start this that i don't want to fook up the sealing of the sump when i replace it, never about seizing the engine. Will have to look at that quite seriously when i do it.

Also another MK2 owner i know has installed a oil pressure guage so that he can monitor the actual pressure and not rely on the (sometimes dodgy) oil pressure warning sensor.

So basically i'm going to do the sump check (as i have already bought the gasket), then if not fixed will do the oil pressure guage i reckon as i don't fancy doing the oil pump if not required innit.

Will let you know how i get on when i do it, also if you manage to solve it please let me know what your solution was.

white one is the high pressure sender which will sound the buzzer over 2k rpm, the black/blue/brown one is the low pressure one and will flash the light only at idle.

The white sensor should have a yellow wire, the other one is blue :)

i would change the pump if it is still doing it if you plan on keeping the car, i have just bought one with a new sump seal for 50 quid posted. You can buy mine if you want as i dont need it now. Its better than a knackered engine methinks.
