Amp power cable to the battery

A bit peed off atm as i couldnt find anywhere to put my power cable for my amp

In the engine bay there are several gromits but inside the car ive got what looks like sound proofing so havent a clue which gromit to use 

Anyone got any pics of where they put their power cable in the passenger footwell and inside the bonnet to the battery?

I did that on tuesday mate! take out the tray under the glovebox and find where one of the gromits is and just cut a little hole for the wire to go through the insulation stuff! easy

The MK2 Golf has to be opne of the best cars for having gromits that dont tear your arms to shreads trying to get to them!

Im sure i have a pic i can dig out for you on the easiest gromit, i mean its a 5 min job to wire it through this one....if that.

Thanks guys i was told on another forum aswell that its easy.

Basically my plan is, to pull up all the carpet and take the shelf out, and to just poke a screwdriver through one of the gromits inside the engine bay and hope for the best!

When i plug the power cable onto the possitive terminal on the battery do i disconnect the possitive cable and fix the amp power cable on and then re-attach the possitive cable onto the battery?

Disconnect the -ive first, then the +ive. Refit +ive first, then the -ive. Less risk of making one jump when sparks start crackling. Also safer.

  i did it before reading this and just plugged it straight onto the +ive without disconnecting anything in the end. everything seems to work fine (and drove about for an hour).

Have i damage anything that i will not have noticed?

No, should not harm anything. It just cuts down the chances of directly shorting the battery to earth. Things get jumpy then and sparks go fizz. Quite entertaining as an on looker, but makes me jump if it happens to me!!
Saying that though, a mate of mine burned himself quite badly once when he shorted the battery to earth through his watch strap. He jumped about then! And now, 12 years later, he still bears the scar.
