Advice Needed. Remap Related
« on: 13 December 2007, 10:00 »
Right so i've decided to go with Revo as they offer a nice 55bhp increase for £587 and i've got 2 franchised revo dealers near by who can do it.

The problem is neither of them have rolling road facilities. After speaking to both of them its clear that all they do is hook a laptop up to the car, update the ECU and then hand the car back to me.

1. How do they know its 255bhp after the remap if all they do is update the ECU?
2. How do they know what boost, fuel etc timings to use for my car?
3. Are Revo maps generic?
4. Who am i?

I wouldn't part with that much cash without a before and after run on the rollers.

Stage 1 is generic and is tested to death with various test vehicles both on the road and using a rolling road.

255bhp is probably the biggest gain you can expect.

As Nick says though i wouldn't part with such a large amount of money if i couldn't verify what i was getting

A big NO NO to that. I'd rather drive somewhere further and know what I am getting.  The fact that these people haven't got rolling roads but are offering remaps doesn't instill much confidence.

ye thats what i thought. But still Revo allow them which is a bit strange really. The nearest dealer with rolling road is in Halifax, 90 miles away, called The Racing Line
