Michelins.......  Over priced.

Avons.......  Dreadful.

P6000's.......  Ditchfinders.

Best tyre (per £Â£Ã‚£) is the Eagle F1 - By far.  Not the most durable (I get about 12k), but the wet/dry grip is astonishing.

They're not as soft as those Toyos', though - I think 1 set only lasted me about 8k!!!
Current Car:- 2014 GTI PP manual, white.

Make way for..... 'The Silver Bullet'! 227 bhp, KO3-S'd AGU, R-TECH Spec 2 map 8), Forge 007P, Blueflame Turbo-back, Eibach -30mm's, YellowStuff front/RedStuff rear pads, Goodridge braided lines, TT Short-shifter, R32 Dogbone, TT W/B bushes, Forge TIP, G60 fly/VR6 clutch, 5.5 ltr washer bottle,

Now, I'm running Toyo Proxes TR-1's on mine now and have found them to be crap.

I bought them in February, have done about 9k miles and have just been told that they need replacing.

They also nearly killed me when going round a corner on a damp road at 45.  It's weird though, cos my cousin has the same tyres on his Civic Type R and swears by them.

How did you manage to only get 8-12k out of them Ivor?  Are you driving down back roads all the time and generally hammering your motor?  Or is that mainly town/dual carriageway driving?

Ive had 10k out of mine!! IMO the toyo has a good mix of grip and wear- You cant have grip and a tyre that lasts for years, If it grips well it will wear simple. Plus i get my 225/40 /18 for £80 each

10k for £80 you cant complain at a price like that!!!

eagle f1's are good. i duno if you've heard of bf goodrich(tyre used in all wrc) but ive found that they wear the edges right down even if your wheel alignment is spot on but are ok when brand new                          my top 5:
                   1: toyo t1-r
                   2: goodyear eagle f1
                   3: michelin pilot sport 2
                   4: bf goodrich profiler
5: yokohama a539(old skool but do well)
I must warn you I'm about as decisive as a 5 yr old in a sweet shop!!
