If the Mk3 8v GTI didn't have the GTI badge, it would be a great car. Comfortable, makes good progress and an excellent motorway cruiser. Ditto for the 16v.
The Mk5 has the best of both - sporty and fun like the Mk1 and Mk2's, yet refined and comfortable like the Mk3 and Mk4's. Superb
