GOLF MK2 What are the Biggest alloy I can get???

Hi all i what to get some alloys for my golf. does any one know what size it can take with out cut up my car and with out affecting steering? And any tip on where to get them cheap ones around £300ish with tyres

based on your budget, trawl ebay for some second hand 17". Any bigger and you wont be able to afford new tyres.

yeah 17's fit but the ride isn't that nice. most people stick to a nice 15 or sometimes 16's with a healthy drop!

16s with a 40mm drop drives fine... no scrubbing

with regards to 16s, what offset, tyre profile etc you running?
You had any arch work done?

17's with a 40mm drop is ok and fun! But yes harsh on the ride, heavy steering and pricey tyres.

huge wheels, small car = looks silly (think young corsa drivers)

stick with 16s max

got 17's on mine, scrub like a washer woman and sit nicely under the arches, tyres are a pain to buy, and handleing isnt that bad (but i've never driven it on 15's)

having said that... i now have a set of 15'' ats cups int he garage waiting to be cleaned and slapped on it at the weekend, so i'll soon tell you what i think...

oh yeah, mines lowered (alot) and has had arch work... still scrubs!
