Hate to point out the obvious, but Gran Turismo is Italian for Grand Touring you spanner :)

LOL.   I have had similar run ins with so called fast cars as i have said before A mate from work has a toymota cilicar 175bhp but he jibbed out when i went past him on the inside of a tight left onto the A50. Its down to the way you drive and it also seems that if you TRY and go fast in the mk3 8v it is actually slower than if you keep your cool and drive it properly.

Without sounding daft the 8 valve,16 valve and the VR6 are all fantastic cars in there own ways The 8 is an ideal comuter good on fuel and cheaper to insure the 16 is faster but is more to insure and when driven hard uses more fuel and the VR6 is a good all round performer good torque and bhp but is not cheap to run or insure. But they will all stand the test of time better than any other car because unlike many cars they dont rust away(Alfa)they dont break down all the time (most fast Fords) and they hold there money better than a Gold plated Bentley owned by david Beckham.  ALL VW's RULE!!!!  :D

Children children ! Isn't the reason we are on here because we all love VW Golf GTI's in all guises ?????

Who cares who's faster than who,Golfs are not the quickest cars on the road, who cares ? We love them for what they are and what they stand for. It's up to personal choice if you prefer a Mk1 or a MK3 etc, but all forum users should respect other forum users for their own choice in cars.

It's obvious some people are trying to wind others up and this all reminds me of a big happy family that tear each other to shreds before bedtime.  ;D

Enjoy your own car and respect the choice of others. Said my bit, feel like the parent making the peace now  :D

Oh dear !!!!!!!!! What have i started here?
One thing  i do have to say, everyone is going on about golfs being slow compared with other cars???
Two golfs i would pick out, the mk2 16v and the mk3 vr6. I can't speak for mk4s cos i've never driven one.
Are they slow compared with other cars?
I think not  :)

Yep, that is one of the few exceptional cars, but it will fall apart in a few years.
How many more cars, even today will piss on a vr6?

Yep but we are talking about a car that was first launched in 1992.
Must be said that the clio cup,and 206 gti will only be marginally faster, very little in it. AND you actually list 2 later variants of the vr6.
Lets try putting it another way, since your list isn't that big now is it? and some of your choices are only marginal, how many cars on the road will a vr6 piss on, not be marginally faster but actually PISS ON.
You will be writing the list all day  ;)
