its not us slagging off your slow car. we dont need to everyone knows there slow and not real gti's. its just you need to stop bigging it up and telling us everytime you overtake a car. its f**king boring mate. have you noticed anyone with quick golfs boasting about how quick they are??

Mine says GTi on the back and on the log book so i would say that it is a REAL GTi. This is what makes other forum's full of SH1T, b!tchin like this really F**Ks me off. Anyway anyone want to buy an 8v mk 3 absolutely mint low miles very BLING and turns nearly every head, Its a bit slower than some but it looks better than some and i love it. If i could afford to i would keep it and put another engine in it but i think that ill have to settle for a boxy mk2.

One last thing If the mk3 gti had not come along then the mk2 gti would of been (and allways was until the mk 3)crap compared to the mk 1. Oh and GTi stands for Grand Tourer Injection not fast as booyacka flamin exhaust turbo dump valve spotty faced f**k. And they will stand the test of time.

PPs 16Valvers are toss aswell. Ha.

Mine says "GTI on front, side and back" plus on the "logbook" and the "insurance certificate".

Therefore its a REAL GTI too.  :) just like Jims.

...  I agree... with everything that Jim said.

Btw, on the 16v is toss mark Id like to add something, cos every says how fast they are...

Race a Astra mk3 GSI 16v agaisnt a Golf mk3 GTI 16v.

Both are of similar weight... but the Astra engine is SOOOO much faster than the VW's ... it pisses on the Golf GTI 16v.

But what would u rather own? .... the slower Golf or the faster Astra?

... I think its gotta be the slower Golf 16v....

btw, Im not slating the 16v... far from it ... Im just saying the Astra is faster, but the Golf is a better car (ala mk2 GTI 8v Vs mk3 GTi 8v ... mk2 faster, mk3 better)

the main reason i bought my car is because i had some situations in my old car that could have been avoided in a more powerful car. driving at motorway speeds wasnt a nice experience in some circumstances. (thingys who block you want to exit or in dodgy weather conditions)

The main reason i bought my car was because it was quite shiney. ;D

I'll start off by saying i dont have a clue how fast/slow the MK3 is. I have a 1.3 MK2 golf, which i, personally dont think is slow. I am not really interested in speed, more value for money, any who disgress with me that a GTi is cheaper, or the same price is a fool. I get better fuel consumptio than you, and cheaper insurance. That is what matters to me, and we have different ideas about what we want. So it doesn't really matter at all that your car is faster, unless that is what your interested in. And we could argue all day about it, but to no avail, it is after all onyl ones OWN opinion that should matter to you. Stop arguing and just quietly think, i know i've got what "I" want.  ;D

Oh, and as an aside, GTI stands not for grand touring injection, but for Gran Turismo Injection  ;D

Hate to point out the obvious, but Gran Turismo is Italian for Grand Touring you spanner :)

Anyway, no the 8v isn't slow. Driven well it will leave most normal cars in the weeds. I remember a particular back road jaunt through Fife, when a souped up Mercedes couldnt keep up through the fast twisty stuff. He could have nailed me for sure on the long following straight, but I had already made up so much time through the twisties there would have been little point in him pursuing - also considering I kept the hammer down past 105mph (as an aside I do laugh when people accuse the 8v of having no go in fifth gear - that's what fourth gear is for - duh), it would have been a tad dangerous for him to give chase. Can't say I was really approaching the limits of what the car could do either.

It is also capable of demolishing long journeys in obscenely short amounts of time. I have driven from Stoke in Staffordshire to St Andrews in Fife, a total of 327 miles in 4 and a half hours. That's an average of over 81mph. You see a slow car can't do that. I should know, my old car was pretty slow in the grand scheme of things.

I can't believe people still rate the RS Focus as a driving machine tbh. I thought enough sources had confirmed it was a bit duff. I'm sorry but I'd take the R32 over that torque-steering monster any day of the week. I'd probably have a 147GTA over them both tbh tho :)
1997 Tornado Red GTi 8v - The Fastest HotBox on Fife's roads.

Modifications -

1 x Kenwood KDC-7024M
1 x Dull Aluminium Golf Ball Gearknob. Clearly worth about 10bhp on its own.

that'd be the 'grand touring' bit then.. reminds me of what i mentioned before about it being much better suited to motorway driving (which due to a certain someone i was doing a lot of with my old car, and made me choose a car well suited to it for my next one..)
Used to have a '97 MK3 16v GTI 3dr in 'Black Magic'... now have a '55 Civic Type-S...

God, whats wrong with some people, why must you call me a spanner? Just because i'm using the proper meaning, not a derived one. Why dont you grow up.
