the issue of longevity isn't really a problem, you cannot use 300bhp all of the time, and the rest of the time your not really working the engine so hard as there is no need to rev it so much you just drive on the increased torque.
There are plenty of remapped 1.8T out there with a 150k on them with no major issues I don't see the 2.0T being any different as long as you look after it, warm up properly, run down, oil changes etc., which we probably all do anyway.

I see your point

You are specifically talking about engine longevity. I also have to factor into the equation the DSG longevity. The DSG box is known to have some longevity issues as seen from the TT's and to boost a car up to 300bhp as you say will not significantly reduce the engines lifespan, but the DSG is more susceptable to torque issues and would me more of a concern to me than the engine with a remap. The subsequent high torque levels of a remapped car in everyday driving as well as whilst using the full performance would mean that it would most likely be the DSG box that would have mechanical issues first. :nerd:

Got me thinking how good it would be if you could get the same gains on the R32... Im sure the AWD could handle the power and as I opted for the manual, that could probably handle it too..

Your definately right about the change your car often.. once you can do it, you will do it! Hence the reason for me only leasing my cars.. no real headache when i comes to giving them back... and engine logevity certainly isnt on my list of priorities

Well don't feel too left out... you could always supercharge yours to 450+bhp, 0-60 in about 3.5secs    It would just cost you a tiny bit more thats all

WHy worry about losing your license? You could just apply a slight amount of pressure on the accelator... And.....

Well as the R isnt really my car i dont think i would bother the HPA until I get my own...

Funny as I had a young lad come into my work place and as me the size if the cars engine. When I told him it was a 3.2... he simply said his mates vxr would pi$$ all over it and walked out...

Need I say I will be inviting his mates VXr round to mine when the HPA is installed and kicking!!

not entirely sure but from what i remember JC saying on top gear, the vxr8 will out do a bmw m5 0-60 and puts out about 400bhp! I doubt he has one of those so I am guessing that he has gone for a Astra or the Vectra so 6sec 0-60ish and either 240bhp or 280bhp. either way Im sure they would beat most in a straight line. Round any kind of corners then its headbutt your windscreen time!

Im quietly confident I would give him a good run for his money... I know I can get 300bhp out of mine without any major mods

The point is that with that much power churning out the front 2wheels he is gonna have to fight pretty hard to keep it out of any hedges in the wet...

Bring it on!! Im confident I can have him as standard for now

Out of interest what would need to do to get 300bhp out of yours?
