with my car being lowered 40mm i now cant jack it up high enough to change the wheels over
any thoughts how i could do it?

I never had this problem but I use a trolly jack.

yep i have a 2tonne trolley jack ... on full extension but the tyre is still on the deck

Something sounds a bit wrong there. Even with a lowering kit the suspension shouldn't drop any lower than with standard hieght when jacked up.

I have to get someone to lift my car up by the wheelarch while i put the jack underneath, but i've never had this problem! Are we talking front, back or both?

Scissor jack. That is what I used for my Cobra, and that was on the deck!

Had this this problem with my stepsons Clio (way too low and French!) - luckly the original VW emegency jack fitted - I rasied enough on this to get my trolley jack under the sub frame and job was a good'n
