Well, for fuel consumption at least!

Not at all.

I've had an 8v and currently have a 16v - but with a rebuilt engine courtesy of awesomegti. 

The 8v rarely exceeded 30mpg. The valver regularly tops 40mpg.

This weekend I was on a hoon with the Irish equivalent of Pistonheads, drove 380 miles including to and back from the meetup and an hour-long rag over A and B roads, and averaged 38.5mpg. Just incase you think I was driving like a Priest, I was caught speeding at 156km/h (96mph) and almost lost my licence. But they're my first points ever, so it's not too bad. 

I think your 8V was f**ked!

I get an average of 36.3 mpg from my 8V and I'm happy with that

 so if driven sensibly the fuel consumption isnt muchj more than my dts, just trying to find a good un for the right money orwillin to dfo a deal with the dts

Would be interested to know the difference between  k-jet and digi engines.   

I got a 8v k jet and on a recent trip from newquay (home) to glastonbury i managed 28 mpg i wasnt driving hard either just cruising at 75 ish ( Did i say 75 officer, i meant 70). 
My mfa said i was doing 34mpg but i did the calculations from miles covered and fuel used to get the real mpg.     
I've got a 16v engine that i'm just finishing a full rebuild on (rebore etc etc)  and i'm seriously thinkin of converting it to digi, hence wanting to know if its worth the hassle or not.
