mpg form a gti either 8 or 16v

this is possibly a silly question but what would i expect.  both my last 8v and 16v used to return about 28mpg round town, is this about right. its my only concern bout convertin from derv to perv,

I have had both and used to get around 36 out of my 8v and about 29 from my 16v

Umm I get between 19 and 24 from my 16v.....

My trip to and from work (lots of traffic, some clear running) I get about 32mpg. On a clear run on a long journey I see 38 - 40 mpg. 89 Digifant 8v.

i dont know what i get on my new 8 valve as the clocks are fecked!im guessing its better thanb the valver i just sold.
