In reply to all the people who say "I don't speed, I like the police they're just doing their jobs" At least one of you must have a GTI, R32 or similar, why buy one of these quick cars if you're only ever going to go a maximum if 70mph. A lot of people have had bad experiences with the police me included which causes resentment, for example fighting in town centre at night, over 5 policemen around and nothings done about it yet they'll fine you for going 5 mph over the speed limit at stupid o clock in the morning, some of the police are just power mad wastes of space.

Hit the nail on the head there mate! And who ever decided it was a good idea to have women as police officers needs to be made to deal with one.. Give a woman power and watch them try to take over the world!!

Hi Giorgio. Almost every new car for sale today can easily exceed 100mph - enough to lose your licence in one go.

And even if you're one of the few car drivers who own a vehicle which can't do that speed, you can lose your licence by just driving at 60mph, if you do it on the right road.

By the way.. I sometimes exceed the speed limit, and I sometimes drive slower than the speed limit - it depends on what I think is appropriate for the conditions and environment. I don't think anyone's said that they'd never drive faster than 70mph in their GTI.

What cars like the GTI give which your bog standard car doesn't give is driving pleasure. It responds more sharply, it gives you the ability to safely overtake more often, it feels better through the bends, and so on - you make quicker progress and it's more fun. Even if you don't ever break speed limits, a sporty car will simply be more rewarding to drive nevertheless.

In short, what's your point?

Just because I'm generally supportive of the police doesn't mean I support the times they don't get the job right. I think the place would be worse without the police.

100% right Andy B, thought I had made that clear, I spend a lot of money on cars that CAN go fast for more reasons that to do Vmax etc, yes sometimes I speed, but one thing I dont do (going back to the main problems I have with this thread and alot of others on this forum) is out run police, vmax cars or give false insurance details etc.

on a slighty different note:
had a good example of bad driving tonight.. in the jag, 2.5degress outside, imprezza right up my ass with only sidelights on in a 40 limit, i pull over just as a speed camera covers our bit of road, he then, once clear of it the puts the foot down, undertakes some other cars then turns off without indicating.. Class. Im sure we would all clap our hands at seeing the police pull that kind of driver over for a 'chat'

Sounds like it probably was a undercover copper to me

p.s. If you were only going 40mph in a 40mph then why not move over to the left lane anyway instead of holding up traffic??
