What have you actually got wrong, forgetting what the original post said now? basically get a new full boot from scrapper, knock teh cv joint off the end slide over tap joint back on refit boot with ties job done. Im sue you know this already but it might help.

I'm a tit for thinking the glue on boot was the easy option and I should have done it properly or not tackled it myself and given it to a garage to do. I especially shouldn't have done it in the dark with only a head torch for light!

Well I had a go this morning with a new proper boot and surprise, surprise it wasn't having it.

Firstly the hub nut just wouldn't come off. Ok I thought, no problem I'll just leave the CV joint in the hub and split it from the driveshaft without removal. So I remove the track rod arm ball joint, loosen the strut to hub bolts, remove the caliper and shear off one the nuts holding the bottom ball joint. Great! So I've got the hub off and I decide to try splitting the joint off the shaft, nope not having any of it.

So that's it, I'm done. It's not drivable so I can't take it anywhere to get it repaired. Crunch time. If I can't find anyone to come out and repair it at my place before I need to leave for OE then it goes on eBay as spares or repairs.
