Ok so im getting a head unit from a friend tomorrow ( :grin: got all my audio stuff free so far :laugh:) will i need an adapter to plug it into where the stock radio/tape player sits?

To be honest, with mk2s now being so old, you never know what you're going to need before you get in there.  Usually a big handful of decent crimp connectors is what's required.

ahh right i know that my mate had to get some sort of ISO adapter for his car (not a golf mind) but wasnt sure. Im taking it out today so ill have to see i guess :sad:

alrite mate you'll need a din - iso connector to make the ariel compatable with ariel for the radio, make sure you buy a good one though i got a cheap one from halfrauds and it was shocking. i'm sure you will also need a wiring harness to convert the standard vw conections to an aftermarket head unit but this can depend on the make and model of your new HU. hope this helps
