What is ET51 or ET45 ?

What ET are the VW Monza's and what ET should the replicas be?

I thought replicas were exactly that - replicas of the original vw monza alloys or am i wrong?

Read last months tyre test in Evo before you buy the tyres..Some interesting results.

got a link?

Got the Mag.....Try the Evo web site.

How did the "Pirelli P Zero Rossos" compare on the test?
They cant be that bad can they. After all, they are the tyres that come with the Ferrari 360 Spider....
The Evo tyre test was with P Zero Nero's (black, rather than 'Rosso' red), the Nero lacked grip and set poor lap times.
Autocar also recently carried out an extensive test of tyres and they ran the P Zero Rosso's. They performed even worse than the Nero and came last in nearly all the wet and dry tests, they also set the slowest lap times. They used to be the best tyres you could buy and often won group tyre tests but I think that the competition has now moved way ahead.

In summary Autocar called the Rosso's 'woeful'.

Not really considering they WILL corrode, they WILL be the wrong offset and they WILL have a negative affect on the ride.

is there no kind of lacure you can put on the wheels to stop the corroding, or a varnish of some sort??

maybe try a couple of coats of Poorboys wheel sealant.  dunno how well it would work but it would give you some protection for wheels against the elements.

i use it on my wheels and all you need is water to rinse of the brake dust

Best you can do is give them a thin coat of wd40 after you have washed them which should be at least once a week during the winter months.

AFAIK the wheel offset for a Mk V GTI 18" inch wheel is ET45. Links here:

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=vw+golf+gti+18"+wheel+offset&meta=

The offset should be 51, 45 seems to be the offset of replicas.
