Remap / 18" Alloys / Wheels
« on: 25 October 2007, 15:30 »
Right guys.

I think its time for me to treat myself and spend a bit more money on the car.

- I can get some 18" Monza 2 replica's for £300 which i will be ordering in the next few days. However im uncertain as to which tyres to put on them. I was thinking of getting some Pirelli's. I know which ones i want but dont know the model. Its the ones that have Pirelli stamped in red paint on the side. These are the ones im after as the red goes with the car. Does any body know what model they are?

- With me putting 18" alloys on the car (from the standard 17" it has now) do i need to change anything on the car or is it just a case of removing the 17s and attaching the 18s?

- Also, im looking at remapping it. Power wise i want to take it to 250bhp. But i cant source any one local who can do it. Does anyone know of any good guys in the North East who can remap?
APR, Revo or BLUEFIN???

- How does having a remap affect you when you go for a service or an ECU update?
Does it need to be disabled and then re-enabled? Any extra costs?

- And finally, do you guys notify your insurers when you change wheel size or when you get a remap?

PS. will be getting those fog light surround honeycomb covers colourcoded to match the rest of the car.

dunno about the tyers but £300 (ebay) sounds ok.

as for the remap i had it done by celtic tuning (google it) they actually came to do mine with a laptop. alot of people dont agree with this method but i have had absolutly no problems with 2500 miles!! also they claim to make it 265bhp but after a rolling road it actually has 258bhp! (still good) the best bit is its on offer at the moment for £350.

if you want to take the easy option then superchips will post the bluefin to you (save you driving anywhere), then just do it yourself, very simple process I can assure you! (although I know the majority prefer revo and co.) I've done nearly 5k on my bluefin remap and its been a pleasure so far!

Should be straight swop - no problem.

Yes, otherwise you could invalidate your insurance.

Is that a good deal?
