got it pressure tested today and he says theirs some pressure there but not a lot so im going to have a look tomorrow but no sure what im doing. when i get the sum off where is the pickup and pump

The oil pump is will be right in front of you when you remove the sump, you can't miss it!!!

golfvr6 what you doing on there? needed an answer quick. have you got any more advice for me please. do you think i should put thicker oil in there's synthetic at the mo

No, synthetic will be fine. Use Quantum Gold from VW.
The chances are the strainer on the pick up is blocked.
It simply unbolt separate from the pump, or you can unbolt the pump as well.
Probably worth changing the whole assembly if you take the sump off.
Then put some cheap oil in and flusher , and change the oil when all is done.
I see Clubgti actually got it right for once!

nice 1 golfvr6. new gasket? do you think that will stop the rattle? this bloke said today that the rattle might be from the bottom end of the engine. camshaft?

The camshaft is in the top of the engine.
Probably will be a good idea to change the sump gasket.
Hard to say where the rattle is coming from without seeing the car, try sorting the pump and putting new oil in, that might sort it.
