OIL LIGHT

can anyone help? driving home tonight my oil light and the buzzer came on for a few mins, oil temp about 110 checked the oil level and its fine but the walter seems very hot and the gage is well over half way. i've not seen that before and the fan works. dose anyone have any ideas your help would be much appreciated

are you sure you werent going round a long right hand corner??

the buzzer and light will sometimes come on then for a bit as all the oil is pushed to the left of the sump and the oil pickup gets starved.

aslong as it is not on continuosly u'll be fine

i have a 89 16v.i think it only happends when it gets hot and my tapets are a bit loud the last day or two and i wasnt going round a corner

Get your oil pressure tested to be on the safe side.

it could be the oil pump on the way out, the reason i say that is because you said the tappets have got noisey when the engine is warm, could be start of oil starvation.
could be nothing, but i would get it checked out, otherwise you might not have an engine.

it won't be the engine if you sort it, you can buy pressure gauges, or a garage should test it for a small fee.

It won't be the engine, the oil pump circulates the oil, if oil starvation is the problem, chances are the pick up strainer is blocked.
Don't run the car until you are sure the oil pressure is ok, that way you won't damage the engine if the oil pump is suspect.
