the slam plate on my golf is really sh!tty, the last owner painted it in hammerite black, and the rust has come through all over. anyone got any advice on what to use to clean it up and spray it DIY style?

Very easy to remove/fit. Just remove the front grill, a few bolts, headlight electrical connections and bonnet release cable.

The lamps and associated adjusters etc are mounted in a metal frame which is seperate from the slam pannel.
Just make sure you get one with a decent bonnet lock as they are rivited on, not that its that hard to drill out the rivits remove it but its one less hassle if you get a good one in the first place!

sand away any rust and re-paint it if you go the scrappy way tho. has your car been crashed before? i was just wondering why someone would go to the bother of painting a slam panel, unless it had been bent and they straightened it
