steering "clonk?"

when i turn the steering wheel either way, it makes a kind of clonking noise... bit like a spring tentsoning.

anyone else have this?

Alternatively, get dealer to check suspension mountings and driveshaft CV joints.

yeah I get this as well steve, when driving you can't hear it, but when crawling - when parking etc, you can both hear and 'feel' it - was toying with taking it to dealer...

i went there today and he said yes he knows what i mean and made out its just like that, he said if im not happy book it in... but can it be fixed YET?

be interested to know if any other new gti owners have experienced this, I'm sure its only started recently, got 5k on now, when did yours start?

i got 600miles and iv always noticed it, (had it bout 5 weeks)

I had the same problem on my 06 GTI and the dealer replaced the steering rack which sorted the problem.

cool, im going to ring and book it in tomorrow for 3 or so weeks time as im on holiday.

oh and does everyones engine sound really clonky and like a diesel??
