steering "clonk?"

when i turn the steering wheel either way, it makes a kind of clonking noise... bit like a spring tentsoning.
anyone else have this?

Alternatively, get dealer to check suspension mountings and driveshaft CV joints.

yeah I get this as well steve, when driving you can't hear it, but when crawling - when parking etc, you can both hear and 'feel' it - was toying with taking it to dealer...

i went there today and he said yes he knows what i mean and made out its just like that, he said if im not happy book it in... but can it be fixed YET?

I had the same problem on my 06 GTI and the dealer replaced the steering rack which sorted the problem.

cool, im going to ring and book it in tomorrow for 3 or so weeks time as im on holiday.
oh and does everyones engine sound really clonky and like a diesel??
