Girling 60 calipers are deffo twin piston. The brakes found on G60's are actually called girling 54's or 56's and these are the single piston type.
People often get the G60 and Girling 60 bits mixed up. Easy mistake to make.

Oh and by the way I have a Girling 60 twinpot setup in my garage. They were going on my valver until it was written off so I'm open to sensible offers for em.
Theyll make your MK2 stop on a penny!

Sorry for the shameless plug

Cheers

well i picked them up yesterday and they aint girling, they are lucas... oh well... but still, they are big bugg*rs! 280mm vented discs, looking for some 16v hubs now and some new pads and discs... might have to give rubjohnny a bell about the hubs

cleaned them up and they look very smart, shamelessly though im gonna spray them matt red, but think it goes with the red detail and white on the car...shall see... pics to follow later tonight...

soo hyper!

just a thought, my 8v is a 1991 and i had a sneeky suspicion that the brakes were changed to 256mm on the later 8v... is this just me being hopeful that i wont need 16v hubs?

also, if anyone wants some 2nd hand 280mm 4x108 audi discs then give me a shout!

cheers,

rob

I'm sure i have read before that the very late 8v's had separate hubs/carriers/calipers like the 16v set-up, but the disc size stayed at 239mm.

I may have imagined that though  :lipsrsealed:

@oak16 - ur 100% correct. i was getting mixed up with the G60/G54 numbers!!

no mk2 8v's ever came with the 256mm setup from factory - and they all came with fixed carriers for 239mm setup

for the caplipers, carriers and discs, gear knob .99 relay and a few other bits that found there way into my pockets, 50squid haha, not the cheapest, but got a half decent pair of pads, the brakes are mint and the discs are utterly useless now i know there PCD... 4x108!!!

anyhoo, the relay is propperly cool!

that guy, does he work for neepsend scrappers?

£50 for calipers & carriers alone is a bargain
