audi 80 sport brake setup...
« on: 26 August 2007, 10:59 »
howdie!

made a trip to the local breakers yesterday, and found a rather minted example of an audi 80 sport in bright red and perfect condition... couldnt find a single thing wrong with it so im guessing internals to the engine were fubar...

anyhoo, took the interior door release handles which i'll post up later(look much better) and had a good scout around.

noticed the brakes. are the ones on the automatic 280mm ones cos they looked huuuge! if so, im guessing thhat they will bolt straight upto my 8v digi... is this true?

rob

oh yeah, if anyone wants anything of it then give me a shout... didnt have the vdo guages in or the sensors though...

You'll need the hubs along with the calipers and carriers to bolt up to an 8v. Have a look at the calipers, cos they are potentially girling 60's on these cars (i could be wrong), if they are, they will be twin piston bad boys (ansd worth quite a bit).

You'll also be wanting a 22mm master cylinder.

girling G60 calipers are not the twin piston ones. they are single piston

the calipers & carriers of the audi will fit up to your golf. the hubs will not, you will still need to find a set of late golf 16v hubs in order to run the 280mm setup

and yes replace the master cylinder with either a late 16v or vr6 item

so i'll need to get a 16v golf hub setup, and master cylinder... could i not use the mastercylinder off the audi?

if not, how much are the master cylinders for the 16v?

cheers

the Girling 60's on mine are single piston, so unless they changed design at a certain date?!?!
