After hearing on the radio the other day that the average fine for an un-insured driver is £180 pounds - I was a bit peeved and was going to start one of these petitions - but I did a search and there was already one so I thought I'd bring it to you attention.

To be honest I don't think this guys suggestion (fine of 3rd party insurance x 1.5) goes far enough - but I think it's time something was done to make driving without insurance and getting caught cost more than buying insurance in the first place!

:undecided: I was all for the extending tax exemption but this one I can't sign I'm afraid,  not that I in any way condone driving without insurance, and as far as I know I'm fully covered myself and I've declared all my mods etc... but....

suppose there was some little insignificant detail that I've overlooked and my insurance gets voided as a result, I'd be even more screwed   the sad thing is it always seems to be the law abiding citizens that get the law thrown at them for the minor indiscrepancies, whilst the scum will carry on driving with no insurance what so ever, safe in the knowledge they'll get little more punishment than community service

Well there's obviously a difference between someone who intentionally drives without insurance, and someone who is not covered by a policy they believe to be correct!

Blimey - I'll be honest, I'm quite dis-appointed with the lack of responce and enthusiasm for this!

As long as you go through everything with the insurance company, don't lie or hide everything and declare all your mods you'll be covered fine - I'm surprised more of you don't want people who drive up our insurance costs and make the roads more dangerous given a proper punishment! - Ahh well, if we all thought the same I guess the world would be a boring place eh?!
