It wouldnt matter about the bumpstops because if it were sitting on them there would be no suspension travel anyway mate.

I've got an 80mm drop on my mk2 & I didn't have any rubbing with the Std 185/60/14R wheels.I fitted alloys with 185/45/14R tyres & the car is much lower still no rubbing & it just goes on the MOT brake tester, biggest problem was getting it on the MOT ramp & using the jacks.

Have you got lowered or knackered top mounts?

Ive found out mines a 100mm drop mate, also I've got 195/50/15's. Rubbing while driving isnt a problem as there isn't any rubbing. The problem is the cars so low that the top of the tyre touches the arch on full lock. I've just got my 195/45 tyres through so hopefully all will be well, but we'll see!

Andy

Would fitting arches from a G60 help? They are more flared than standard GTI/driver ones, but are they not also a little shallower, thus giving a tad more space?

Yeah I believe they do help, although I dont think I'll need them now. Fitting the 195/45's has done the trick, Ive got about 8mm clearance between the tyre and arch on full lock now so alls well! Thanks to everyone who helped!
