Tweeter Placement
« on: 13 August 2007, 20:44 »
I have just got a set of components and was thinking about placement of the tweeters and thought the best place would prob be on the bit of trim next to wing mirror but to be different i thought about having the board the tweeter it in be raised off of the bit or trim like so.

tape will be replaced with screws and spacers

Here it is from the front.

will be covered once i'v done the other one

Does anyone see a problem with mounting them here???

I get a nice high soundstage where I've put mine - knocked up a couple of thin MDF baffles and put them in place of where the original dash speakers sit. 100% stealthy too :)

yeh i see a big problem!!!

would you like to let us know what the problem is, or is it a secret?

the only thing i would say is to try to angle them more towards you if possible, they should sound better/louder!

He was being a  tardface (i know him) and his problem was i'v not wired my tweeters in.

The mounting they are in allows for me to twist and angle them to a range of position so on the final fit they will be tweeked in to the perfect position smart set up saved me alot of work :D

Competition ICE installers reccommend not to place the speakers more than 9" to 12" away from the mid range speaker. I have placed mine directly above the speaker grill, on the door card.

What this does is keeps the treble sound stage in phase with the mid and also stops the treble out sounding the mid and bass. Treble is naturally up to 6times louder to human ears so i have my tweeters set at -4db.

Hope this helps...

Dan
