Youd need this too...

Still a bargain as the drive and play was £150 on its own when I had it done. Incidentally if you hold on a few months and have some more £Â£Ã‚£ to spend they are releasing version 2 which incudes a better quality screen but also full bluetooth mobile integration.

If you're looking for full iPod functionality and control, you might want to consider one of these new Alpine units: http://www.audio66.co.uk/product.asp?id=5592&cat=26&man=1&main=1&userid=&firstsel=cat&variation=
I had one of these installed in my Ed30 a couple of weeks ago (although not from this supplier) and I'm very pleased with it.

I just cant picture how a single din unit will look good on the golf dash. Willing to be persuaded though!

No pics at present - sorry. Will try and take some at the weekend. The Alpine is installed in a Golf single DIN adapter with a cubby hole below the Alpine for sunglasses etc. Audio quality is very good.
Edit: found this pic from p3eps installation of the same Alpine unit (halfway down the page):

i've actually got the Alpine and ipod controller in mine too.

if you want full control and decent quality sound then get an alpine HU with Ai-net and the KCA-420i
you can sort music directly from the HU by playlist, album, artist individual tracks are easy to find as you get the alpine "search" / quick list functionality

only downside i'd say is that cycle through the list using glide touch is bit slow for me, but then i guess you are meant to be watching the road and not your playlists.

if you want to keep it OEM then your other option is to get a double din unit that can take a full speed interface, i know you've got sat nav already but you could easily sell that on.

lol just as well its down to personally opinion then.

whilst the OEM sat nav might look smart the functionality and sound quality is rubbish in comparison to a top end head unit and after market sat nav.

if you've not already seen it this thread might help
