Where you on a rolling road at tickover? :smug:

Seriously, I had 46 mpg using premium unleaded last week from my 16v. 5th gear @ 40/50 mph in traffic for 10 miles or so. Bl**dy good I thought.

I was driving along the A2 at a steady 56mph in 5th gear and reset the MFA thingy, it went straight to 72 then up to that then reduced and settled at high 50's!!! I was shocked and had to take the pic!

I had 99.9 on my VR6

Same as you, except reset MFA while foot off throttle, just letting it roll on a dual carriageway (there was a roundabout in a few hundred yards so I was just letting it slow down well in advance).

Sometimes I try to see how conservatively I can drive it...  on an average journey of 10 miles or so I can generally get over 33MPG if I'm careful, but that's no fun.  Normally I'll get around 25MPG out of a tank on average.
Sold the VR6... Now officially An Old Man With A Passat Estate.  At least it's a 1.8T

The highest I have ever got my average mpg to is 40 and that was for a split second and that involved spending half the journey rolling in N.

I've got the MKIV 2.0 8v so similar if not the same engine as some of you guys.
