Noisy brakes
« on: 18 July 2007, 07:32 »
As mentioned by many, there is an inherant problem with a noise form the front end when parking up, or turning the wheels when coming to a stop. http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=32092.0

Well, took my car to dealers Friday and they tell me there is a new part which replaces the dodgy part in the brakes which is causing this noise! (Its not dodgy as in unsafe, just that it contributed towards the noise that many of us experience.)

Anyway, they replaced the part and i can say that all seems well so far! VW also told me that the part was in short supply as all Golfs were gettin gthis replacement part, so if you have the same problem, get along to the dealers!

Any ideas what this part is ? as mine is bad, but only on left hand down a bit.

Yes a groaning at slow parking speeds, thought for some time to be steering related.

OK, here we go, the long awaited part number.

From VW Paderborn, Germany, the part which is screwed onto the brake calipers has the part number 1K0698998.

I will repeat this in a seperate thread incase anyone misses it.

You should be able to contact your local dealers, quote this number and get it fixed on.

Good luck to you all.

Lee
