Brake causes stuttering... Why would it do that?
« on: 10 July 2007, 22:28 »
Right, after nearly 2 months off the road the Golf is nearly roadworthy again, and I can come back out from underneath it!!

BUT... There is one last problem... Applying the brake causes the engine to stutter. I can find nothing wrong and all I have really done in the last couple of months is replace shocks and springs, rear brake pads, and bleed the system, and a bit of rust removal therapy.

Any thoughts?

Sounds like you may have a servo vacume fault, check your brake fluid level is correct, and fluid is not being sucked into the engine!

sounds like a vacume leak yes

if not then just adjust the idle very slightly

Hmmm... Brake fluid level is fine, problem occurs with any amount of revs so idle is fine...

So it sounds like a vaccuum fault! Any way of fixing/checking this? Or do I need to replace more parts??

So close!

Check the servo pipe or the gasket isnt split anywhere,
