No fuel at Fuel Injector

Hello everyone,
I just purchased a 1990 golf GL *gasp* Yes I know it is not a GTI  :evil: I think you guys can still help me.  I was told that the engine was replaced with a 1.8L and that it had a 1.6L before.  I can not get it to start.  I have fuel all the way up to the throttle body, but nothing is spraying out of the injector.  I checked the carb fuse and it is good.  I just pulled the throttle body off and am going to try to find a used one unless you guys can give me any more possible solutions for my problem.  I am getting power at one of the pins on the harness for the fuel injector.

If you guys know anything about this engine, that would be great. I understand that there are many 1.8L with many different power ratings:

dont quote me on this but that looks like an SPI lump, if so it will probably be a 90bhp unit out of a MK2 or MK3 Golf.  Does the fuel pump rpime when you turn the key?

Yes, it does prime fuel when I turn the key.

ok id replace the blue temp sender, a bad one can make the car not start, and also double check your timing :)

Is the blue temp sender located on the carb?  Would the timing being off not allow fuel to flow from the injector?  I would not think so, but need to make sure.

the blue sender is the one on the front of the head with the blue plug.

ok, so that must kill the engine if it gets to hot????  If it is bad than that could be my problem,  hmmm.  I will check that out.

no the blue sender tells the ECU how warm the engine is, if its broken it can send false readings to the ECU and prevent the car from starting cold :)
