2.0 TFSI Engine Mods
« on: 07 July 2007, 22:48 »
From reading the forums I see that some people change certains parts of their engines e.g Carbonio air intakes or Forge DV's or dump valve's etc...

Does this not void VW warranty? and have any of you that have any mods done, does you VW dealer know about them and say it's ok to do it?

If so do you let the mechanics at VW to do the work for you? as for example, if they know you've changed the oil yourself they will void the warranty, so does this apply to engine mods?

You need to speak to your VW dealership if you are going to do any mods to your car. In most cases they are quite understanding, but you do get the odd ones which take exception. I've had several new VW's from my local dealership and they know me well. Most had some modifications done and I made sure that VW knew what had been done each time. The only time they took exception was on my GTTDI when I had a remap. They weren't bothered about exhausts, alloys or ram air system, but I told them anyway. They know I have had the standard sound system completely gutted and replaced in my ED30 and are completely okay with that. It voids the warranty on the sound system, but as it isn't there anymore it is a bit immaterial
Just see your dealer, sometimes if you have something fitted by them they take a lot more lenient view of the warranty too . a bit more expensive, but worth it to keep the warranty in tact :nerd:
