You need to speak to your VW dealership if you are going to do any mods to your car. In most cases they are quite understanding, but you do get the odd ones which take exception. I've had several new VW's from my local dealership and they know me well. Most had some modifications done and I made sure that VW knew what had been done each time. The only time they took exception was on my GTTDI when I had a remap. They weren't bothered about exhausts, alloys or ram air system, but I told them anyway. They know I have had the standard sound system completely gutted and replaced in my ED30 and are completely okay with that. It voids the warranty on the sound system, but as it isn't there anymore it is a bit immaterial

Just see your dealer, sometimes if you have something fitted by them they take a lot more lenient view of the warranty too
