Affording is not a problem, i dont see why i should pay £27,000 on a standard R32 when i can get a ticket to germany for £200 and getan R32 for about 10k Cheaper. I think any one in their right mind would do so lol. Illyun...sometimes isnt heavier better, especially with the advantage of 4WD?  Not to sure lol. I would love to use an R32 though before i do go and make any major decisions.

No brainer - R32. Better traction, more power and better exhaust note :smug:
Cass

..... The GTI feels much more agile and responsive to drive.

Having owned both, I can honestly say that wasn't what I found, yes the GTi is lighter, but a little weezy above 4500 rpm where as the "R" still keeps pulling.

That's why he needs an ED30  pulls like a train

Yeah get an ED30 if you can! Just as quick as an R in standard, but get it remapped and it will demolish an R! (Speaking from experience ) Gotta love the R exhaust note though, I miss it  Hopefully the Milltek will help

....A Milltek Non-Resonated will make your GTI sound as good as any 4-pot could sound. It'll take a thousand or so miles to mature but is worth it. Obviously it's never going to sound like that R32 V6.

True, it 'burbles' quite nicely as it is, but I'm sure a Milltek will make it sound a bit more 'meaty'.
I'm still undecided on letting Milltek have my ED30 to develop an exhaust.. I'm sure they would look after it but I think I think I'd rather just buy one once its ready, don't feel comfortable having my car as a test subject! free exhaust is tempting though! :undecided:

The Milltek non-res catback might not make as much difference to the exhaust note on the Ed30 as you might think. On my previous GTi, the non-res catback was a considerable improvement on the stock exhaust, a richer, deeper note without any booming. However, my Ed30, after around 5000 miles has matured nicely, and the exhaust note is already comparable to the non-res catback on the GTi. I had originally considered a Milltek as a must-have mod for the Ed30 - now I'm not so sure...

it's not just the sound that matters...

Uphill winding roads - Ed30 will not catch R32, I think, because of the FWD. Are there many roadss like that in Gibraltar?

I personally do not like the look of R32, especially the middle-place exhaust pipes, the chrome in the front. It looks bulkier than GTI, imho. :lipsrsealed:
I've read a lot about R before deciding, it is an animal, but it is expensive to buy, run, insure...
If I had the money I am not so sure I wouldn't buy R32, though I looked more at S3. :undecided:
Saw white S3 with Recaro sits and black BBS 19" wheels yesterday at the dealers, sweeet

The S3 is a very very nice car but the only reason why im getting rid of my GTI is because its a 3 door. I Beleive you cant get the S3 in 5 door either and its only available in 3. Apart from that i feel its a bit over priced! £27,000 or 40,000 Euros! Just a question i had regarding to the R32. The telephone preparation thing, does any one know what phones you can use on it? Or is it just a particular brand such as Sony Ericsson or Nokia?  And regarding to the Colour, Red, Silver, Black or Blue? All the colours look very very nice but just cant make up my mind!
