A Victim of Hit & Run
« on: 27 June 2007, 23:33 »
Well today has been a nightmare.
Someone went into me this evening and fled the scene. Caught my back panel and i lost control and by the time i got the car to a stop they had f*cked off!
I lost control and the car spun and i ended up taking out a sign and some barrier.
Back panel damaged, back bumper damaged, front bumper and grill damaged!

I cant believe they fled the scene. By the time i got the car to a stop they had fled and i couldnt get the details.
Good job im fully comprehensive but next years premiumis going to be high!

Scum bags, bloody scumbags!

Seems like this is becoming a regular occurrence. I can't believe how many people on this forum have had damage inflicted on their cars and the B@stards who hit them just fcuk off without a thought for their victims.

Were you anywhere near a CCTV camera?
Did you catch site of the car that hit you?

It makes me so angry when people do this...they ought to be shot

Tough luck matey - the barstewards

As long as your'e OK though, the car can always be fixed. Hope you reported it to the Police. Plenty of CCTV and traffic cameras around these days so hopefully the offending vehicle can be traced.

ye im fine guys.
Unfortunety there were no cameras overlooking the area.
Traffic police arrived about 10min after the accident took place (i called them). I doubt they will do anything about it.

Unfortunetly, i didnt get a good look at the car. All i know that it was a silver rover. By the time my car stopped he had looped around the roundabout and done one.

Insurance are picking the car up today. God knows when i will get it back  (probably 3/4 weeks). Damage looks bad. Even the steering is damaged. Doesnt look like any of the damage is to the main parts and is just cosmetic (panels, wheels, bumpers, grill) The car drives ok but the steering feels strange.
Probably will need a new front end (grill, bumpers etc), bonnet, passenger side rear panel, rear bumper, and some more stuff...

Hopefully i'll get something descent as a courtesy car.

Sorry for the language i may come out with here. But bloody hell. Good to see that your all good. This is f**king why insurance is so much cause of idiots like them. I hope they get caught and get hung for it.

I hope justice is served and they pay.

Which way did the offending car make off - are there no traffic monitoring cameras on/along that road. Check with both police and privately operated cameras. Also check with the local Rover dealership body shop in case the offending tw@t has their car in for repair. May also be worth putting up a roadside sign asking for any witnesses to come forward. What about a call to the local paper - offer a reward for any info leading to the identification and successful prosecution of the offender - your insurance company may even stump up for this if you get a result. Don't forget to get pics taken of all the damage as well.

Local Rover dealership?!     You're having a laugh right?  W ankers like that go to a backstreet garage - not the main dealers.  Was the GTI undrivable after the hit?  Because if not, I would have chased the barsteward - and called the police at the same time.
