Local Rover dealership?!     You're having a laugh right?  W ankers like that go to a backstreet garage - not the main dealers.  Was the GTI undrivable after the hit?  Because if not, I would have chased the barsteward - and called the police at the same time.

the car is still driverable as i drove it home after the incident. But when he hit me at the backend the car spuna nd went out of control and went into a pedestrian barrier and a sign and eventually stopped on the footpath. By that time they were out of site and i was a bit shaken. I thought they had stopped but it was only after i got out the car i realised they were no where to be seen

Had similar thing happen in car park obviously not as bad but still needed some work, had insurance through  last week and was actually cheaper than last year, I had protected no claims though. Damage doesn't really matter as a claim is a claim. So prob won't affect insurance hugely hopefully whihc I suppose is one thing. Hope you get rid of the micra soon!!

ye im fully comprehensive and have no claims protection.

What makes it even worse is that someone has gone into the courtesy car aswell whilst it was parked up on the street and not stopped. I only noticed it afterwards. Theve slightly scrapped the back passenger panel. Looks like i will have to pay £200 excess for both cars now and foot the damage for that aswell. This really is turning into a nightmare of a week

THANK YOU!!!

Alright. Im really sorry to hear about your car.
Its terrrible to have that happen to you, my dads Pajero was stoned the other day by a bunch of kids and he was so upset.

If you are wondering why I said thank you.. The reason is. I am a writer (Dont laugh)  :smug:
And I have been stuck at a point in my book where I dont know what to do next because its near the start and I need to build the story up. Well I have come up with the answer....

Hmmm. I will have the car rammed from the side... The character (Ryan) will somehow manage to escape from the burning flames (Ok a bit of Hyperbole never hurt anyone) and will notice once he is out that there are bullet holes in the Rear fenders and B pillars .......

Eureka! Now I have a strategy and the book can continue!
Being serious now. I hope they catch the bastewards  :cry:and thank you once again for being my inspiration.

UPDATE:

Garage has accessed the vehicle and so far the damage is £3,000. The estimater rang me up and told me afew days ago. He said they cant right it off.

Today they have been asked by the insurance company to carry out a "Geometry Test" which they are doing today. No idea what a geometry test is.....

what % do they right the car off? 30%? 50%?

My car is valued around £15,000/16,000. Im assuming that the damage would need to be around £7,000/8,000 before its classed as a right-off?

Sorry to hear about this, I know exactly how you feel.
I got t-boned at a roundabout a couple years ago and the owner of the car that hit me then hit someone else. While i was checking the guy in the other car who was screaming in pain who i suspected may have had a broken back, (luckie it was only a hip). |She de3cided to run off!
The car had been bought at an auction a few months earlier but the name and address were false, basically the police told me that it was probably local travelers or young people who often buy cars with tax and test from auctions cheap and so get away with not been stopped regular unless an insurance check is done on it. Basically as we were all insured and no one was killed the police even after me phoning regular basically did not want the hassle. (I traced the car to the auction after searching it at the recovery garage)
Sorry for the ramble it still gets me.
Hope you sort yours out and trace this barstuard.

The checks they maybe doing will be to make sure the chassis is not bent and the shell distorted after the impact. You sometimes get shell stress marks and dimples (especially on sunroof cars) due to the shock wave been disapated round the shell that can knock it out of true.
Edit: You say geometry test they are prob checking the wishbones and suspension are all at the correct angles and something not moved or bent slightly.
