Wheel rubbing - HELP!

I've recently put some 15x6.5 G60 BBS wheels (ET33 i believe...) on my standard 16v and with passengers in the back the sidewalls rub on the inside of the arches.  I was told 6.5Js should fit the mk2?!  It's not lowered (although I think the springs may be a bit soft) - surely I shouldn't need to roll the arches for this?! I know the original RAs are 6J but should that extra 0.5 make that much difference?

It depends on the offset as well as the width of the wheel.

I had 6.5Js on my mk 2 and they were fine

However, now I have 7Js with an offset of 24 and they rub to buggery

Do you know if that rubbing you get is on the inside edge of the tyre or the outside?  I realised my thread may not have been too clear about where mine rub - its the outside edge of my tyre which rubs.

ET 24 to 28 must make quite a difference - mine rub a lot front and back (certantly couldnt have anyone sit in the back at all), am really surprised!

Personally I'm thinking of getting about 5mm machined off them. I like them and I will make them fit!!

Try taking a wheel off and finding an offset stamp on a wheel to double check and are you 100% that the springs aren't lowered?

Really wouldn't have thought those would have rubbed with the setup you've described. I ran 17" 6.5's with a 40mm drop and only very minor rubbing over big bumps.

Aha now it becomes clear, my arches are virginal and untouched

I know why they rub, they probably have 205 with tyres on them as used on the Corrado,, therefore you have a slightly lower offset than standard i.e et 38 or 35 and an extra width of tyre, if you fit 195 50 15s on those rims i doubt there will be any scrubbing as you are only going a coulple of mil lower than ras.
