Playstation or Alike In A Mk4 Golf..
« on: 21 June 2007, 11:24 »
As it says above, im getting one put in the car or my gamecube (purely for mario kart) but I dont know where to actually mount or put the ps2, anybody done this?
Will always love my mk4 but she had to go...225 Quattro TT in its place....but its still black (she lives on in spirit!)

ive seen it done under the passenger seat, and in the glovebox, thats a ps2 though as you can get the thin, tiny ps2's but a gamecube will be much more awkward ( unless you have a massive glovebox), suppose you could stick it in the boot, may need some cables extended though.

the boot is a pain in the ass, im not feeling having to go into the boot to change a game.

ps2 under the seat or going to have to make a bracket so it hangs under the glovebox

thought it was only for mario Kart?! thats why i said in the boot, if you fitted it in the boot near to the back seats you would only need to pull the back seats down, slightly less effort!

but your thinking of fitting a ps2 instead? if you are I really would reccomend getting one of the slimline ones and sticking it in the glovebox, only because if its under the glovebox It may be seen and scream   ''steal me!''. Under the seat will be sound though.

I got tints you cant see in, but playstation would be better as il play more than one game, il have a look because instead of spending 30quid on an inverter il just wedge out for a 12v ps2 slimline

You will probably need an inverter still unfortunately as the only slimline Ps's ive seen (although there may be different kinds by now) are something stupid like 7.5v and need to run at exactly that voltage. Ive allready tried off a 12v adaptor! was going to just cut the wires!

if you get a slimline PS2 then they are pretty much exactly the same size as the handbook and fit in the space for that in the glovebox. Had mine in there before.

but then you need to take it out everytime you want to change games because the tray pops up instead of coming straight out, havent even got car back yet

the PS2's can be soft modded / chipped (done through software)  which enables them to load game images from a harddrive.

you could look at doing this, as it would mean you wouldn't have to change disc's other than to load new images, which lets face it once you've got all your games on you're not going to need to put anyothers on.

other options could be wireless controllers with the ps2 in the boot and cables run for the AV
