Copied CD's
« on: 10 June 2007, 21:14 »
Copied Snow Patrol and am having some problems playing it on in my multichanger. The original plays fine but this copy skips etc.
Now I know its probably the standard of the CD I burnt it onto and maybe my burner but was wondering if its a common fault?

How old is the changer Len??? The changer in my van is ancient and it's very picky about the brand of cdr's it will play. I then discovered if I fitted a paper press-it type label that just about eradicated the problem, might be worth a try.
SO:
100 labels later and I had a large collection of copies that played fine in my van. I then fitted a new alpine in my car and that didn't like the labelled discs!!! I've now purchased a 2nd identical alpine for the van cheap off ebay because the faceplate was missing and I'm gonna bin the changer setup altogether.

Dunno how old changer is! I bought it - or rather Billy bought it for me at a carboot! Its a Sony 6 disc thats all I know!
The disc in question has no labelling on it!

All the other 5 discs, which are originals at present are working fine so its definitely this naff disc or as monza said too fast a speed of copy!

I bought the original, it just happens to be a missus favourite to and so I had to do a copy to put in the car!

If the changers is getting on a bit then I would say it's probably on the edge of its capability to play cdr's in the first place, mine is a kenwood from about 93-94 so I was astounded that it played them at all. The fact that it's a sony probably makes it worse as they were slow on the uptake to make their equipment compatible with cdr technology as they were probably one of the companies that would lose out on the most revenue as a result.
I would buy some good quality blanks and burn them at a slower speed as monza said (I never burn audio quicker than 32x and even then it's actually more like 16x) and you might get some good results.
Personally I never carry originals in the car anymore as I've lost loads to thieving chavs over the years along with my systems :(
