Rattle at 2000rpm
« on: 06 June 2007, 11:37 »
Hi all newbie here, just got my new gti with dsg and was wondering about a rattling sound from the engine when in D accelerating at around 2000rpm. After it swings past 2500rpm the rattle dissappears. Is this normal? Thanks in advance.

It could be anything, really.

Any of the plastic heat shields or covers - or indeed anything in the engine compartment could be gently vibrating against somthing else.

Your best bet would be to find a helper - get them to hold a steady 2000 rpm, whilst you have a carefull nosey under the bonnet.

Otherwise, take it back to the stealer.
