Hi guys,  i ordered my GTI from motorprovider on the 23 March and was expecting the 12-14 week delivery before reading this thread.....you've got me worried !!   Don't think i can handle much more of a wait its driving me nuts already.
Golf GTI 3 dr, reflex silver, 18 monza's, cruise, arm rest, highline comp, leather.

Do you think there 12-14 week delivery is realistic or do they say that to get the order then keep you hanging on knowing they've got your deposit ???

Think I will contact them tomorrow and question this !! Does anyone have experience of motorprovider ?

Acwats:  Has Motor Provider given you a reason why the car is being delayed for so long?  Hope it does not get delayed any longer than that for you.

Sort of - they used to order in bulk but were stopped by VW. The built to order process is something new for them and they don't get the same service as main dealers. I am sceptical that they waited until they had a number of customers (I've been given the same dates as John007) to put a bulk order in but they have (tried to) assured me this is not the case.

The guys seem genuine and when I complained I was offered my deposit back so they are acting honourably.
In summary I think they are given poorer service than any main dealer and I'm in a queue - I dare say the launch of the ED30 has put pressure on the plant and I've lost out in terms of delivery time. Getting a date provides some security - I suggest you try to pin them down on this.

I have contacted motorprovider and they are estimating a 16 week wait for a GTI.  They have also valued my car to be worth £9400 (that's current value and not 16 weeks time).  That doesn't sound too bad as I will be saving about £4000.

I also contacted a broker called cars4charities and they are saying 10 weeks for a factory GTI (from Holland) and have valued my car to be worth £8900 in 10 weeks time.  They are a bit more expensive than motorprovider though.  10 weeks sounds a bit quick as local dealers are estimating about 14-16 weeks.

Both are full uk spec with space saver tyre and alarm and English manual.  I think I will go through the import route due to the large discounts but the problem for me now is to decide who to go with.

Thanks for all your help.

Hi all - first post on here.

As above I tried Motorprovider but they are just to order now so 12-14 week delay.
Have ordered a car from http://www.simpledeal.co.uk/ 3 week wait for a steel grey 5-dr. Could have had a silver one this weekend. Appears to be the same deal as motorP i.e. EU import, UK spec, 2-yr warranty etc.

I know nothing about them but the alternative is give the mail stealer £21500 or give them £18265 - the car will probably be kept for years so import or not means nothing to me. Will post back with my experiences on the dealer when I get it.

Got mine through SimpleDeal and had no probs with them. Only had a 3 week wait as the car was in stock . They import them via a VW Garage in Holland, who I have since emailed with questions about the car ( PDI date , service regime etc ) and have always had a reply from the service manager in perfect english.  V5 document dropped on the mat with me as the first registered keeper within a week. Definitley recommend them.

Just call around the dealers, i got almost 1k off an ed30, so you should be looking at 1.5-2k off a normal Gti.

Dealers will have targets to hit at different times of the year - all you need to do is find the one dealer that needs to sell a car now. There will be one!

Then just ask your local dealer to match the quote

good luck

I ordered my car this week from cars4charities as they are local to me.  They are still quoting 10 weeks but will delay it so that it will be on the 57 plate.  They seem genuine and friendly and know what they are talking about and have answered all my queries to date.

This is the first time that I have ordered a car this way so I am still a little bit worried.  I will keep you posted on how it all goes.

I ordered a Golf GTI 3 dr, diamond black, 18 monza's, ipod prep arm rest, winter pack, xeonons and leather at £20,500 (saving £4000) from them in April and was quoted 12-14 weeks. However after if not being ready at the end of June I have been in touch and have informed me of delays due to "problems at the VW end". They say it will now be ready in September and they seem genuine but for such a saving you never can be sure I guess!

I have looked around and tried ot price match new and second hand ones with dealers and private sellers but can't get anywhere close so I'm going to hold on now till september - the wait is killing me though!

Will probably get an extra warrenty to bring the 24 month import one up to 36 whagt is the best way to do this anyone?
GTI has arrived!

Try these:

Used them before on my Boxster. Some limit on total/annual claims and you may have to settle the bill first but they are a sound company.
