Sony standard fit stereo alarm
« on: 13 May 2007, 21:26 »
Hi there, right well I just removed the front facia (the bit behind the faceplate) from my stereo (mk3 golf vr6 with standard sony tape player) to remove a jammed tape. On doing this it set off an alarm built into the stereo... Just wondered if:-

a- The alarm can be stopped (without smashing the stereo to pieces!)
b- When the alarm does stop due to the integral battery going flat, will it work again?
c- Is there is anyone who knows anything that could help on this!?

Thanks

hi

i had the same, you canstop the alarm! You need to remove the radio from the car and find the unit taht contains the two large watch type batteries and remove that from the radio. Once removed there is a spring loaded switch, i disconnected the spring and it stopped the alarm. Also i slightly loosened a screw so that the spring loaded arm couldn't return even with the spring on.
