Adding rear speaker
« on: 01 May 2007, 09:50 »
I have just recently got myself a mk3 driver 3 dr ,its a 95 , but it hasnt got rear speakers  , i have some old speakers to put in , not great but will do for now, anyway i have looked at the connecter in the car and realisled that the wiring isnt there, so not such a simple job .
THe thing is what i thought was that if i could just get hold of those little pin things that sit in the connecter then i could just wire the speakers to that and then it would just connect to the back of the stereo without me having to cut the wires on the adapter(hope that makes sense)
So can you get them and what is the technical name for them or is easier just to cut the wires
thx

Think it depends more on the speaker connections on your headunit.
If it has the rear channel connections then you will need to run wires back to the speakers.

Are you thinking of spade connectors?
Like flat "C" shapes that slip onto the speaker prongs?

If the driver is the same as gti then there are plastic trim panels just inside the doors that will just need a bit of persuasion to lift off. Best place for cables under there.

so there was no speakers or wiring to the rear of the car? or any place for speakers? or was the problem that there was only two speaker connections coming out the back of the headunit?
