Update from yesterday; brilliant day with the full crew round to finally get this finished engine wise and most bits for tax, mot and insurance at the end of this month. Had a few goodies packed in the fiesta on the way to the garage:



Centre rubbers on exhaust pan:


Reducer sleeve on, had to cut in the gaps by hand with a hacksack to get a firm grip on the centre section and backbox:


With the exhaust finally fitted properly, she did sound so much better and its nice to actually hear the exhaust note without the blow

Benny did the soldering on my extended map sensor wires so they would stretch down to my forge flange off the front mount, also got the new fans swapped over, sorted out a water and power steering leak I had, topped up all fluids and she is back and running beautifully!




I went to go and pick up the Bora Sport Clocks but the place was shut so il save the interior shots until they are in but its looking so much better now. Had to get a quick couple of pics whilst the old trio was parked up together for first time in ages!




Sammy's is obviously on air, making mine and vdub bens look like they were on stilts but still nice to see all together.

Now to start looking for a decent paint shop...comments welcome as always

Took a bit of flexi time off work this morning to go and collect my Bora Sport Dials. Got them in the car so took a few interior shots, bit dark as car is front end in the garage but you get the general idea. Nice to see bits I have done and bought ages ago starting to tie in nicely; black headliner, TT pedals, momo gearknob, etc. Now just to fit my cream handbrake and red anni style seatbelts, order a cream gaiter and keep an eye out for some Bora vents. Then the interior is basically finished. Progress. Engine done, interior 95% there, now just for paint

Last weekend I wanted to change the pads at discs at the front as they were shot and needed replacing bad. Also wanted to change the drivers side boot as it was split. Unfortunatly after realising I didnt have a 30mm 12 point socket I had to go and borrow one off a mate only to realise that only superman was going to be able to undo my driveshaft nut so that is something I will have to try later with some powertools to crack it. I did however change the pads and discs. These are not 312mm but I am saving for a large set at the moment but as mentioned earlier the current discs and pads had to be changed. When Sammy and I tried to change these before the drivers side screw got threaded and I had forgot so it had to be 'persuaded' with a bit of brute force thus showing me how much surface rust was on my brakes so had to get the wire brush up and give it a good clean up:








Poor quality phone pics I know. Now just waiting to get paid to get a front knock sensor, a silicone elbow piece from my boost pipe to dv and give it another flash on the laptop and put the front back on. Going to ring today to book an MOT for this weekend :wub:

Booked my MOT for Tuesday coming so this weekend I thought to get more done on the mk4.

Had two punctures on my rs6 tyres so borrowed a set of steel wheels from a mate really liking the stealth look actually



Next stop was a breakers to look for a new passengers wing to replace the one I have that's got a huge dent in it, got one in same LO41 paint code - also managed to get the relay box plastics for the engine bay to make it look more OEM.

New wing, needs a t cut but all in all much better


Whilst at breakers I also picked up a beetle gearknob and factory cream gaiter which would tie in nicely so I fitted that and my cream handbrake I had been meaning to put in earlier (cream leather top part of armrest has been ordered too but won't be here for a couple weeks)



The 'u' silicone also turned up so I fitted this to my boost pipe and now my recirc valve is plumbed in, in need of an aftermarket one badly though



That was yesterday, this morning I had to get the car over to a friends garage to get the really small but equally annoying exhaust blow sorted out;



They did what they could and it is much much better then before


Couple of snaps as it stands, need to get legalities out the way then I can finally start getting quotes for body work as it needs attention, doesn't help being black everything stands out, but all in good time

Had MOT this morning, it failed but only on a very few minor things; a few bulbs out, cv boot split on drivers side (got the boot in the garage), front bumper not secure (sorted that with parcel today), number plate light not working and brake pressure not high enough so need to rebleed. For now it's on my drive so il crack on with those things this week in the evenings and get retested, not to mention give it a well overdue clean inside and out! quite happy with that result considering its been sitting for over two and half years and had a new engine in! Took a parcel today, new legal pressed rear plate and 45 degree elbow reducer to take the pipe from the front mount away from the bumper so it can fit perfectly, so close to being ready for paint now very exciting stuff:

Last night I couldn’t resist doing a few bits on the car as it was now on the drive and not ten minutes away in the garage I have rented. So I whipped the front bumper off and fit the new 45 degree reducer for the drivers side intercooler piping. After cutting a lot off it I managed to cut the pipe down so it now hardly touches the bumper at all, completely cut off the corner and put the forge map pipe to connect the two – perfect fit on the bumper now





Seriously in need of some spacers and my 18’s back on, oh and also fitted the rear pressed plate which looks much cleaner:

May 24th:

Little update. Got my MOT, transferring my insurance on monday and getting taxed too. Had a good weekend fitted a new tyre, a 6000k HID kit, had the car remapped with a new stage 2 map, fitted the knock sensor and vag com'd the car. I also managed to sort the problem of my boost pipe popping off under full boost, now she goes like stink and sounds brilliant. Very chuffed to finally be having it on the road for the first time in over 3 years...need to get my windscreen replaced and get bodywork done but hopefully I should be at prept this wednesday. As she stands now just waiting for monday to get paid 








Also got an uprated poly dogbone mount to fit, need to get a splitter/grills too, obviously she needs to go lower and get stanced out, quick vid of how it sounds on the new remap with my r32 exhausts (very happy)




28th May:


Right a bit late as I am VERY pleased to say I have been busy driving my car finally!! As of last Monday she has been back on the road. She is still looking a bit sore and in need of some bodywork but she is all up and running again which i am extremely happy about.

Took the monday off (of course) and went up to Sammys to get a few bits done (due to not having electricity at the garage I was renting/limited tools I have been quite limited in what we could do)


First things first - PETROL:


I went for a little drive before we went to Sams to get a feel for her and obviously see if there were any bits that would be needed after more then a 30 second drive up the street, there was - one of the water pipes that we blocked off split, not proper water hose so not surprising. First stop was Eurocar parts for some proper water hosing and some coolant.



Off to sammys and we cracked on. First thing was to fit this little beaut which I got for a tenner, thanks Ben!


As you can probably tell the bumper didnt really fit, its not a genuine one but until I can get one it will do.



Now anybody who has met Sam or has seen his car (silver mk4 on air with green BS) knows this kid is a beast when it comes to mk4's and boy did he and us bring it to the table on monday. We made the bumper fit after about 7/8 trial fits, we cut it down very slightly so the intercooler pipes didnt push the bumper out, we also trimmed down the intercooler pipes even more as there was alot of extra pipe that wasnt needed.





Sammy also had a spare r32 grilled which he lent me and we fit the bumper, its not perfect but nigh on and a million times better then before:


Next thing was a new windscreen, I had filthy crack up mine and to be honest it was scratched within an inch of its life, plus I just wanted rid of that bloody chavy sunstrip  :lol:


Picked up a few goodies over the week:



Got myself a Baileys Recirc valve for £25 which was a bargain as I was using the standard plastic one and that probably wasnt helping matters lol! This is fitted and I got to say I absolutely love the sound of it, good buy!

That brings me up to date today, went to the breakers this morning and got a little heads up that there was a Bora sitting in the other yard at the back so I managed to pick Sammy up a set of Sports Clocks,I already got a set they just need coding. Also got the vents and heated seat switches, just need the looms now. I also deceided that although the outside needs work the mk4 could most definatly benefit from an inside clean, hoover, et.So I got on the seats and gave them a heavy cleaning. They definatly need another going over tomorrow. And I fitted the vents and switches, cant wait to get my clocks in and everything wired up. The inside is looking really nice now and im really happy with it (just need to wrap the bits on either side of the dash that are silver), one thing that I do really want is a double din headunit, I think that will really finish it off nicely.




I was so on one today that I even managed to arrange my tools, anybody that knows me can tell you this cant be my tool box. Few snaps of how she is looking now:




Im going away next month to work about for a bit but after I will be trying to get bodywork done for edition38...but we will see.

Been a long time since I have updated so this is a bit of a mission but i have finally deceided to go for it:

heres how it sat:





We took off the wing mirror to spray up so it matched instead of it just being a rough black coat with no gloss. While we were at it I deceided to go at the side strips due to this being a bottom of the range mk4 in the beginning they have never been colour coded and were in that weird orange peel textured stuff. Sammy has his old strips due to his being smoothed so I sanded those down and we got to work painting them. Due to my car being 11 years old and these strips never coming off you can imagine the crap that was behind it!









Due to the intermittent weather we had to put the spraying and fitting on hold so we fitted some spacers on the back to give my car that more stanced and dumped look, another thing I have wanted to do for ages but hadnt got round to:



After we fit these we had to call it a night but this is how she looked that night, bit rough with all the glue from the strips but it was only for a week for I could deal with it:



I ordered some glass for the passengers side stubby mirror and it only cost £6, next day delivery so the next weekend I went back up sammys and we fitted the strips and the mirror. Chuffed to say the least, having them colour coded maybe standard for you GTi owners but mine have always been that horrible plastic and it makes all the difference on the car:





Next up was getting my engine looking back how it used to so I started sanding down a spare rocker cover and took off my boost pipe, spent a good couple hours on them to get them smooth using various sandpapers then some wet and dry ready for the polishing wheel....its all in the prep!







The boost pipe went on the wheel first and then I test fitted it, makes such a difference:





Buying these forge caps off Sammy too just having a little test fit, he has both sets so we can swap, think thew black ones would be best though and then fitted the rocker cover and all the bit. Also fitted some 6000k sidelight bulbs as I didnt have any in.



Gave the inside a hoover, really need to get my anni clocks coded and fitted though, the last part of the centre console was covered in carbon too so theres no more silver strips which makes it alot more complete



Next up was to sort my sounds out as I had a problem and it kept cutting out so picked up an alpine dvd unit from a mate; never seen so much wiring in my life for a headunit! I deceided to rewire my whole system as when I had mine installed initally they wired it all to the fuse box and its been causing me ag.....when I started I wish I didnt:







All fitted now and sounding much better, anybody need a headunit lol



We then made the rear bumper fit a bit better. I have now got the other two r32 grills which need fitting, front bumper is going to be painted within the next couple of weeks then I can fit the splitter and slam her to the ground. Here are a few pics of how she looks now.....much better with the strips and mirror on!






And a little video to show how she is running, she sounds amazing with that really raspy noise on boost from the r32 exhaust and a lovely airy turbo spool and noise from the front
